Which Honda Models Have All Wheel Drive?

Let’s face it, road conditions aren’t always the best they can be. Whether it’s sun or snow, sleet or wind, you could find yourself in a situation where you could lose traction. Losing traction is never good, especially when you’re in busy traffic. Plus, you don’t want to lose control when you have your family on board. That’s why it’s important to know which Honda models have all wheel drive.

What Does All Wheel Drive Do?

Like the name implies, all four wheels are powered to propel your vehicle. Front-wheel-drive vehicles are equipped to power just the front wheels and the rear wheels follow along. In an all-wheel-drive model, power is transferred from the front wheels to the rear. It enables all four wheels to propel your vehicle. But the power isn’t split evenly between all four wheels. Instead for Honda models that have all wheel drive, torque is transferred front to rear, and in some models side to side, to the wheels that need traction the most. There are two systems available in Honda models.
  • Intelligent Variable Torque Management(i-VTM4) AWD System gives the best AWD operation possible. Torque transfers front to rear and side to side according to real-time sensing at the wheels.
  • Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System senses traction loss at the rear wheels and diverts torque to the rear axle. While power doesn’t transfer side to side, it greatly enhances traction compared to just front-wheel drive.
