How to Properly Detail Your Honda Vehicle

Washing and detailing your Honda is essential if you want the paint to last you a while. What’s more, detailing can give it that shine and look that turns heads. While detailing a car may sound like a lot of work, it doesn’t have to be when you get the job done right. Learn more about how to properly detail your Honda vehicle.

Step 1: Clean Your Honda Vehicle

First and foremost, you need to clean your Honda before you start the detailing process. Failing to clean your Honda before detailing can result in sealing dirt beneath the wax or ceramic coating that you use, which can damage the paint and lead to unnecessary blemishes on an otherwise shiny vehicle. To clean your Honda vehicle we recommend starting with the exterior of your vehicle. Make sure you use two buckets, and fill one with water for rinsing and one with soapy water for washing. Then, begin by applying soap to the top of your vehicle with a sponge and working your way down. We recommend going this route because it prevents you from getting other areas dirty again during the washing process. Cleaning your Honda shouldn’t stop with the exterior, either, so make sure you vacuum and wipe down the interior too.

Step 2: Clean the Wheels and Tires

Next, you’ll want to turn your attention to the wheels and tires. If you want to give your entire vehicle a detailed look, the wheels and tires need to be spotless. Use a rim cleaner on the wheels and a tire cleaner for the tires. You’ll also want to clean your brake calipers, especially if you have a nice brand with writing you want to show off, like Brembo, for example. Then, rinse the tires and dry them with a microfiber towel.

Step 3: Clean the Windows

After the wheels and body are clean, it’s time for the windows, which is the easiest part. Apply a window cleaner and use a microfiber towel to clean the interior and exterior of the windows. Make sure you get all the windows and mirrors if you want everything to really shine.

Step 4: Use a Clay Bar

This is the step that most people miss when detailing their Honda vehicle, but it’s one you never want to miss. Using a clay bar might seem like a lot of work, but it’s definitely worth it because it will remove excess soap and other contaminants from your vehicle’s paint. You’ll want to remove this debris because sealing them in the wax or ceramic coating will result in damage to the paint and it can even ruin the integrity of the coating.

Step 5: Apply Your Wax or Coating

Depending on your budget and how long you want the coating to last, you can apply wax or a ceramic coating. Wax is easier to work with and more affordable, but it doesn’t last as long as a ceramic coating. Once you know what coating you’ll be using, you can apply it by hand or with a buffing kit. Make sure you follow the instructions for the specific wax or coating you choose for your Honda vehicle.
