The Green Beret Foundation is dedicated to helping take care of our Green Berets, just as they take care of us. Which is why Jay Wolf Honda is proud to sponsor the Green Beret Foundation. About the Green Beret Foundation If a Green Beret is injured, the first action of the Green Beret Foundation is to send them a check for $1,000, along with any essentials for a temporary hospital stay. That covers their immediate needs. If they need extended care, they can provide additional help, supplementing the basic aid that the Veterans' Administration provides. They not only take care of them in their hour of need, but, when possible, do what they can to put the Green Beret back on the road to recovery, including treatments like laser nerve therapies, adaptive and recovery equipment, and even hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The Green Beret Foundation also provides support for the families of Green Berets. For those who have died, they help provide funeral costs, and contribute to other needs the family may have. They also provide Reconnect Weekends: respites for Green Berets to relax and spend more time with their families while they're deployed. And scholarship programs help to provide the resources for the children and dependents of Green Berets to get a good education.Getting InvolvedIn November, Jay Wolfe Honda held a fundraiser to benefit the Green Beret Foundation. We donated $15 from every vehicle we sold, and $1 from every service sale. And with your help, we were able to raise $3,691 for our special forces and their families. The holidays are all about giving, and we at Jay Wolfe Honda like to like to acknowledge that as best we can. That's why, this past holiday season, we held a food drive for Harvesters Community Food Network. And we're proud to report that, with YOUR help, it was a tremendous success!About Harvesters Community Food NetworkThe Harvesters Community Food Network is based in Kansas City, but they serve a total of 26 counties in Northwestern Missouri and Northeastern Kansas. Founded in 1979, Harvesters sought to take the cornucopia of perfectly good grocery store food that was thrown away every year for being too close to its sell by date, and distribute it to those who needed it most. Since then, they've created a variety of programs over the years, to aid in the collection and distribution of food. This includes their signature coupon-scanning program, Check-Out Hunger, along with fundraisers like Forks & Corks, Chefs Classic, and the Quisenberry-Harvesters Celebrity Golf Classic. They also created the BackSnack program to provide food for elementary school students, and many others. Today, Harvesters provides food and household items to over 620 non-profit agencies in the Kansas City area, from homeless shelters to emergency food pantries to children's homes and more.Getting InvolvedLast year, Jay Wolfe Honda organized a drive to help Harvesters Community Food Network provide food to those who needed it during the holidays. November is the month where we remember the fallen heroes that fought and died for our freedom as well as those currently serving with the U.S. Armed Forces. November 11th is a day to reflect on the peace we live in, the sacrifice that was given for our sake, and the ongoing missions to preserve our great nation. The Green Beret Foundation provides immediate and ongoing support to those injured in the line of duty, their families, and also to the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. They provide financial, emotional, and physical support to our nation's true heroes, and assist in reintegrating them into society after their service. This new Honda release adds a much needed economy compact SUV to Honda's line of reliable vehicles. With the LX model starting at manufacturer suggested retail price of $19,115( 1 )and the EX-L Navi starting at $24,590( 1 )the 2016 Honda HR-V is affordable on any budget. With transmission options that provide city miles per gallon ranging from 25( 7 )to 28( 7 )and highway miles per gallon ranging from 32( 7 )to 35( 7 ), the Honda HR-V continues its impressive cost savings. The Honda HR-V shares many design elements and safety features as the Honda CR-V but it's far more than than a smaller version of the CR-V it has been compared to. For example, the standard Honda 60/40 second row magic seat, not available in the Honda CR-V, helps you make the most of your space by allowing passenger seats to easily fold down. Even though, the HR-V is an economy option, it includes many standard luxury features. Every model, from the base LX up, includes at least a 5 inch color LCD screen, a multi-angle rearview camera, Bluetooth and MP3 Capabilities, Speed-Sensitive Volume Control, programmable door locks, and cruise control. Additional luxury options like SMS Text Message functionality, LaneWatch, push button start, moonroof, heated seats, leather-trimmed interior, HondaLink Next Generation, smart entry system make this model feel anything but economy. For all its benefits, the Honda HR-V is not for every customer. The most significant drawback is the limited horsepower and torque.
