Honda’s Maintenance Minder is a built-in guide that tracks real driving conditions and tells you exactly when service is due. Instead of relying on a fixed mileage chart, it looks at trips, temperature, and idle time to estimate oil condition and wear items. You service when needed, not early or late.
You will see oil life as a percentage that counts down from 100. When it reaches 15%, a wrench icon appears along with a main code (A or B) and one or more numbers. “A” usually means an engine oil change. “B” means oil and filter plus a multi-point inspection. The numbers are subcodes that point to specific items. Common ones include: 1 tire rotation, 2 engine air filter and cabin filter, 3 transmission fluid, 4 spark plugs and related checks, 5 engine coolant, and 6 rear differential fluid on certain models.
Because the Minder looks at conditions, two owners with the same mileage can see different reminders. Short trips and stop-and-go driving usually reduce oil life faster than long highway runs.
If you see 15% with A1, plan an oil change and tire rotation soon. A B1 adds a broader inspection. A B2 often includes air filters. If you tow, drive in heat, or carry heavy loads, you may see fluid codes sooner. When the display reaches 0%, the car is telling you to schedule as soon as you can; it is not unsafe, but waiting too long can affect durability.
After service, the Minder should reset automatically. If it does not, your advisor can reset it, or you can do it in the settings menu. Avoid resetting without doing the work, since the reminder will no longer match real wear. Keep receipts for warranty and resale. Tip: schedule when you first see 15% so you can fit the visit into your week. Ask to check tire pressures, wiper blades, and washer fluid at the same time to save a second stop.
We will read your current codes, review your driving patterns, and map out the next few visits so you only service what you need. If you like, we can set reminders in your account and print a quick plan with estimated timing based on your miles.
