Summer is boating and camping season in the United States, and winter is for snowmobiling in the northern climate. If you’re going to be pulling a trailer, you need a vehicle that is properly equipped and rated to tow your equipment. Which Honda models are rated to pull a trailer, and how much can your Honda tow?
Which Honda Models Can Tow?
For the 2020 model year, four Honda models are advertised with towing capabilities. They are the 2020 Honda Pilot, Ridgeline, CR-V, and Odyssey. And whether you’re looking at LX or Elite trims, you’ll find a model that can pull the capacity you need.
Honda Ridgeline Towing Capacity
The Ridgeline midsize pickup is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque. When you choose a front-wheel-drive only model, it’s capable of towing up to 3,500 lbs. However, the AWD version can tow up to 5,000 lbs.
Honda Pilot Towing Capacity
Just like the Ridgeline, the Pilot comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 280 hp. And as you’d expect, the tow ratings are exactly the same for the Pilot – 3,500 lbs for the FWD trims and 5,000 lbs if equipped with AWD.
Honda CR-V Towing Capacity
The 2020 Honda CR-V can be purchased with either a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder or a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder. Whichever model you choose, the CR-V can tow up to 1,500 lbs.
Honda Odyssey Towing Capacity
Even the minivan in the lineup, the 2020 Honda Odyssey, is rated to tow! It’s also powered by the 3.5-liter, 280-hp V6 as the Ridgeline and Pilot, but the tow ratings are different. For the Odyssey, the LX, EX, and EX-L trims are rated to tow up to 3,000 lbs. The Touring and Elite trims have been rated to tow modestly more, up to 3,500 lbs.
