How Apple CarPlay Works with Your Honda

Perhaps the most popular smartphone in the world is the Apple iPhone. With fantastic calling, messaging, and connectivity features, it only makes sense that it can integrate with your Honda. It does so with Apple CarPlay. Many Honda models have Apple CarPlay either standard equipment or in an available package. But what can it do?

What Apple CarPlay Can Do

On any iPhone 5 or later that’s operating on IOS 7.1 or later, Apple CarPlay can be used if your Honda supports it. Features on your phone that are integrated can be used to:
  • Get directions. You can use your Maps application to get turn-by-turn directions.
  • Place and receive calls. Voice dial a contact or phone number or answer an incoming call through Apple CarPlay. The call’s audio comes through your Honda’s audio system for hands-free calling.
  • Send and receive messages. Listen to incoming messages and respond with voice recognition. You don’t have to wait to get to your destination to respond to stay in touch with your contacts anymore.
  • Stream music from your phone. Play music you’ve downloaded to your phone or stream through one of many supported music apps. You can control the song selection, artist, album, or music channel with intuitive voice commands.
Using Apple CarPlay with your Honda is extremely easy. Simply connect your iPhone to a lightning cable and plug it into the USB port in your car. When your phone prompts to connect, select ‘Allow’. The first time you use it, you’ll need to give your permission for your Honda to communicate with your iPhone.Select ‘Always Enable’ for your Honda to retain permission for future sessions. Click on the Apple CarPlay tab on the screen to access available apps. It’s smooth, seamless, and keeps you connected when you’re driving.
