The 2016 Honda Fit is a comfortable and versatile subcompact with great gas mileage and seating for five. But what really makes the Fit stand out is its incredible storage capacity. This small car can store so much that it will seem like magic. And that’s exactly what it is. The “Magic Seats” in the second row can be adjusted in four different ways, to meet your needs.- Utility Mode – Like a lot of larger vehicles, the second row of seats in the 2016 Honda Fit fold down, providing extra storage space for anything from luggage to groceries. The seats also come with a 60/40 split, so that you can fold down one section for storage, but keep the other section up for passengers.
- Long Mode – What if you have something too long to fit in the back of the car, even in Utility Mode? Will you have to dangle it out the back of the car with a red flag on the end? Not with the Fit’s Magic Seats. In Long Mode, not only does the back row fold down, but the front passenger seat does as well, allowing you to fit much longer items, such as lumber, or a set of skis.
- Tall Mode – By lifting the seats up and putting the seat legs down, you have space to store taller items, such as bicycles or larger potted plants. The floor of the vehicle is just a little bit lower than normal, to provide that extra space for storing tall items comfortably, without obstructing the driver’s view through the rear windshield.
- Refresh Mode – What really sets the Honda Fit’s Magic Seats apart from other vehicles is that it doesn’t just have to be used for cargo. It can also be used for pure relaxation. By adjusting both the front and rear seats in a certain way, you can create a sort of lounge chair, that allows you to put your feet up and read or take a nap. (NOTE: Only use this configuration when the car is parked.)
