The 2016 Honda Fit Is a Small Car with Big Dreams

2016 Honda Fit

The 2016 Honda Fit may be a small car, but it’s capable of big things. The car is unchanged since last year’s model, but why mess with what already works? A stylish subcompact, not only does it have seating for five, but the hatchback gives it a surprising amount of cargo space. It also gets up to 33 mpg city, and 41 mpg highway, making it incredibly efficient. What else does this little car have to offer? Let’s take a look.

Modes

Just what gives the tiny Honda Fit its incredible cargo space? Magic. The second row “magic seat” folds in multiple ways that allow it to do different things in different modes, depending on your needs. Utility Mode lets you fold down the rear seats, turning the entire rear of the car into trunk space. Long Mode lets you fold the front passenger seat as well, to store longer objects comfortably. And Tall Mode lets you fold the rear seats up instead of down, giving you more vertical storage space from floor to ceiling. Finally, there’s Refresh Mode. Once the cargo you’ve been hauling has been dropped off and the day is over, you can sit in the back seat and fold the front seat down, giving you a place to put your feet up and relax. Be sure only to use this feature when the car is safely parked, though, rather than in motion.

Safety Features

The 2016 Honda Fit is designed not only to hold cargo, but also to keep you safe while driving it. Honda LaneWatch aids you as you change lanes, by activating a camera on the passenger’s side mirror when you turn on your right turn signal. This gives you a better view of who’s coming and who’s in your blind spot. The multi-angle rearview camera, on the other hand, helps you as you’re backing up. It has three different views: Normal simply shows you what’s behind you. Wide angle gives you a more panoramic view of what’s behind and to either side of your vehicle, to give a better view of cross-traffic when visibility is limited. And the top-down view shows you the ground behind you, to help with parallel parking. In addition to these cameras, the Honda Fit also comes with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), to let you know when your tire pressure is getting too low, and daytime running lights, to make you more visible to other cars in any conditions, day or night. These are just a few of the things that make the 2016 Honda Fit a unique and enjoyable driving experience, whether you’re hauling cargo or just driving around town.
